Transition Groups
Juniors: Going through the interview process can be a stressful and intimidating experience for anyone, let alone someone doing it for the first time. With time people can develop skills to help them present better in a formal meeting. In order to start building those skills, the juniors in the Transition Group are becoming the interviewees. They have each chosen a staff member to interview about their jobs at COFFEE. They will be focusing on the education they received, why they chose a career and education, and any other work experience they have. Not will they be able to get some experience in an interview setting, but they will also get to so  the work and commitment certain professional need to put in in order to pursue their career.

Seniors: The senior groups will also be working on interview skills. They are currently working developing in group to prepare for mock interviews in class. The students have been presented with a rubric for the grading criteria and  are looking forward to the experience.

Work Opportunites
We currently have three students working at P&D Pizza in Oxford. P&D has been an Oxford institution for years and are very generous in helping the schools. We also have a student participating in a work co-op at Carl's Diner.

Other students who already have jobs have worked out agreements with COFFEE to allow them to work during the school day if they have shown they can behave and follow the expectations of the school. These are great opportunities for the students to earn school credit while working and gain some life experience.....And lets face it....the money ain't bad either.

Quinsigamond Community College visit
On September 19th, some interested students took a trip to visit the Automotive Technology program at Quinsigamond Community College. The students met with the program coordinator to discuss all facets of the program and were able to watch a class take part in some hands on activities.
